Views along the Southampton to Salisbury Railway

From maritime to medieval, explore part of the picturesque Three Rivers Community Railway.

This picturesque railway line connects the historic port of Southampton, boasting links to the Mayflower and Titanic, with the medieval city of Salisbury.

There's plenty of charming stations to explore in between as well. Explore the quaint market town Romsey with its fascinating history. Look out for Romsey Abbey, you can see it from the train!

Further along the line towards Salisbury, at Mottisfont & Dunbridge Station you can walk to the 12th century Grade I listed Church of St. Andrew and National Trust Mottisfont Abbey.

Morning in Southampton

A short walk from Southampton Central Railway Station will bring yout to SeaCity Museum. Hear the stories of the people of they city, their fascinating lives and historic connections with Titanic and the sea. History is brought to life through interactive displays designed for all ages.

Head next door and spend time exploring Southampton City Art Gallery. Originally opened in 1939 the gallery contains a diverse mix of quality exhibitions including painting, sculpture and drawing, photography and film.

Afternoon in Salisbury

Walk back to Southampton Central Rail Station and catch the train to Salisbury. Take the short 10-minute walk through this historic city to reach the impressive Salisbury Cathedral. Since 1549 the cathedral has held the title of the tallest church spire in Britain. See this iconic spire up close as you wind your way up 332 steps and enjoy breathtaking views on a Tower Tour (additional charge applies). Save time to view the best preserved of only four surviving original 1215 Magna Carta in the Cathedral's Chapter House.
