Luggage

You can take two large bags (such as suitcases or rucksacks) and one small bag on trains free of charge. Be aware that some trains have more space for luggage than others. Read more on the National Rail Enquiries luggage page.

Assisted travel

If you need assistance (for example help getting on or off a train, with your luggage, or if you require ramps for a wheelchair), it is recommended to contact the train operator at least 24 hours in advance where possible.

Travelling with children

Under 5s travel free and 5 to 15 year-olds are half price. Over 15s are classed as adults, but are eligible for a 16-25 Railcard. Consider getting a Family & Friends Railcard.

Bring your dog

You can take up to two dogs per person on the train as long as they are wearing a lead. This is free of charge, and there is no need to book.
