Getting there
Depending on the direction of travel, the line can be accessed from the Manchester/London direction at Lancaster (Jct 34), Carnforth (Jct 35) or Grange via the M6 (Jct 36) or the A6. From the north, access is again by the M6 or A6 and the nearest connections are at Carnforth or Grange-over-Sands.
Connections to the Furness Line by train from the south are made at Preston or Lancaster. Connections from Yorkshire and the east can be made at Carnforth but connections from the north need to be made at Lancaster. The line can also be accessed from West Cumbria as the Cumbrian Coast Line connects with the Furness Line at Barrow. Look up times.
BY BUS
A number of bus routes serve Preston, Lancaster, Carnforth or Barrow stations. There are also good bus connections at Grange-over-Sands and Ulverston; see bus times at www.traveline.info.

Plan your trip
Take the train from Manchester Piccadilly to Lancaster. Trains leave regularly throughout the day (look up times) and the journey takes approximately 1 hour 26 minutes.
