Scenic railways across Britain look stunning at any time of the year but there is just something magical about seeing them glisten in winter.

So, to celebrate this year's Winter Solstice, we've collated some of our favourite scenic railway photographs taken over the years. A big thank you to our followers on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram that have shared their beautiful winter photos with us, some of them we've included below.

Take a few minutes, get cosy and relax with a warm drink as you enjoy browsing these chilly, but charming, photographs of scenic railways in winter.
